about the exhibition
The St. Louis Artists’ Guild presents our current exhibition titled Piece of Paper. Paper is a versatile material that is at the core of contemporary art. It has unlimited surfaces, strengths, flexibilities and accepts a multitude of medium. This exhibition explores paper as medium and in which the use of paper is a primary concern as a means of expression and aesthetic. The exhibition includes but is not limited to painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and book arts.
Art Pickup: Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Begin artwork pickup.
Exhibited artwork cannot be removed from the gallery until July 24, 2018. The artist must make arrangements with a preferred shipper to schedule a pickup for Return Shipping that ensures retrieval of the work by August 18, 2018, if not the work will become the property of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild.

Karen Kunc explores inventive color abstractions of the natural and human-fashioned world in her prints and artist books, creating ideas of 'strange beauty'. Kunc is a Cather Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Awards include Fulbright Scholar Awards to Finland and Bangladesh, two NEA/MAAA awards, the 2007 SGCI Printmaker Emeritus Award. Her works have been shown in exhibitions nationally and internationally and are held in numerous collections: MOMA; Library of Congress; Milwaukee Art Museum; Haas Arts Library Yale University; Jyväskylä Art Museum, Finland. She has taught workshops around the world, in Egypt, Italy, Finland, Bangladesh, Poland, Japan, France, Mexico, Iceland, Spain; and she has lectured as a visiting artist to over 200 institutions.
Kunc has recently launched Constellation Studiosin Lincoln, Nebraska, as a creative destination for artist residencies, collaborations and workshops in print, paper, book.

Jeff Sippel | Florals
Jeff Sippel presents a recent body of mixed media pieces and monotypes. Jeff is Professor of Printmaking, joined the faculty of the University of St. Louis, Missouri in 1998. Sippel is represented by Gruen Galleries in Chicago and his work is in numerous public and corporate collections on four continents, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO; Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris, France, and the Smithsonian National Museum of Art, Washington DC.
Leandra Spangler | ROW, ROW, ROW
Leandra Spangler presents an installation of 781 paper rowboats hung in columns from the ceiling by MoFA artist Leandra Spangler. Constructed from layers of paper, each boat is unique and individually named. It is a work in progress.
