Create a Februllage Book: A Prompt-Based Collage Challenge in February!
February 5 - 26, 2025
Wednesdays, 4 weeks, 6-8:30pm
Instructor: Paola Scharberg
In this four week workshop, students will make a booklet and fill each page with collage prompts from “Februllage”. Februllage (February + Collage) is an initiative that invites artists to create one collage a day in February by using the official Februllage prompt calendar! In the first week, students will build a small collage book and proceed to fill its pages over the following weeks. Students will choose the amount of pages they would like to have in their book. The instructor will provide the prompt calendars and some collage images she sourced for the daily prompts. The instructor will provide examples of different collage styles and techniques for diversification such as surrealism, abstract collage, collage poetry, minimalist, maximalist, geometrical, and painting with paper. By the end of the class, students will have a complete collage book!
Most materials will be provided, and the instructor will bring some collage images. But, students are asked to bring some of their own collage images as well. For example: Magazines/ books/ collage materials (if you need more magazines, a good resource is Facebook marketplace, frequently I find someone selling National Geographics at very affordable prices). Many things make good collage materials, for example: newspapers, post cards, movie posters, fliers, junk mail, old journals, family photos, scrapbook paper
