Constructed Visions III
August 14 - September 12, 2020
St. Louis Artists’ Guild is excited to host Constructed Visions III, a national juried exhibition of artisans creating 3D or 2D contemporary fine craft or sculpture that highlight process-driven methods. The artistic products are either functional or nonfunctional, and the process, technique, and material all align with the intent or content of each piece. The artwork exhibited encompasses wood, metal, paper, fiber, glass, clay, jewelry, encaustics, and printmaking as well as non-traditional materials.
Juror: Casey Whittier
Casey Whittier is Assistant Professor of Ceramics and Social Practice at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI). She received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work investigates the fine line between the need to preserve and the need to re-imagine, re-configure and re-contextualize the world around her. Utilizing a variety of forming methods, Whittier recreates elements from nature, unites the landscapes of her reality with the landscapes of daydreams, exploits the visceral qualities of clay, and ponders the power of shared experience. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States. She is an advocate for community engagement through the arts, and has been awarded an ArtsKC Inspiration Grant.
