Back to Basics- 2D Composition: The Elements and Principles of Design

Are you just starting out as an artist, or an experienced artist wanting to go back to the basics to breathe life back into your work? This class is for you! Beginning 2D Composition is for all artists who wish to learn or refresh skills in implementing the elements and principles of design in the medium of your choosing.
In this class, we will examine and deconstruct examples of drawings and paintings of new and old masters to get inspired on how to implement similar ideas in our own work. In “abstract” painting challenges, we’ll use basic shapes, lines, and patterns to prepare us for a landscape or still life painting (student choice) at the end of the course.
Class time will be a mixture of lecture, individual instruction, and time to draw and paint.
