Acrylic Monochromatic Self Portrait Workshop

Instructor: Michael Faris
In this six hour intensive taught by Dr. Michael Faris, students of all skill levels will use painting techniques and strategies to create a monochromatic self portrait in acrylic paint. Students will learn how to transfer images onto canvas board, create under-paintings, mix a range of values, and the application of acrylic paint. Each student will complete an 8” x 10” monochromatic self-portrait (or other portrait of their choosing).
Some supplies included. Students must bring:
A printed black and white photograph of yourself (or other portrait of their choosing). Do not bring an original photograph, make a copy on a printer.
Pencil and eraser
Brushes (bring at least one #6 brush and one smaller brush)
Paper towels
OPTIONAL: a palette (wax paper palettes will be provided, if you prefer a sturdier palette you may choose to bring your own), apron or smock to protect your clothes.
Bring a lunch! There will be a short break around mid day!

If you must cancel, please email (info@stlouisartistsguild.org) or call STLAG. A refund will be given only if cancellation occurs seven days prior to the first day of class. No exceptions. Refunds will be processed minus a $25 withdrawal fee per course registration.
