about the exhibition

Surface Design Association will have an exhibit in the main galleries, “Beyond the Surface”. The exhibit described here, “On the Surface on The Ramp! runs concurrently. Surface design methods must be incorporated into each artwork, i.e. dying, stenciling, stamping, printing, embroidery and other embellishment techniques. 
You must be a member of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild to enter this exhibit.

Join the Artists’ Guild no later than August 10, 2019, at https://www.stlouisartistsguild.org/membership. Fiber Section members will be particularly interested! 

To attend the Fiber Section gatherings, just show up on most first Wednesdays of the month, 6:30 – 8:30. Check the Artists’ Guild calendar on-line or call us at 314-727-6266.

Juror: Luanne Rimel

Luanne Rimel’s photographic textile work is exhibited nationally and internationally, traveled with Quilt National and exhibited in Smithsonian Craft Shows in Washington DC. Her work is included in the book, Art Quilts of the Midwest, published by University of Iowa Press.

She holds an MFA in Fibers, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, For 16 years was the Director of Education and head of Fibers at Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design, in St. Louis, MO. See her work locally at Duane Reed Gallery. Currently Luanne is a full time studio artist and gardener.
