Exhibit Series: Celebration of Heritage
African Heritage Annual Exhibit*
Opening: January 18, 2009, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Admission: Free and open to the public
Theme will be on the African American Family. The African Heritage Exhibition will focus on the need of a strong family foundation within the African and African-American community. This exhibit will feature three St. Louis-based artists that are either of African descent or born on the continent of Africa. This show will offer an awesome range of styles and techniques and the subjects will speak to all who universally believe that a strong nation depends on strong communities, which depend on strong families.

Portraits Around The World*

Admission: Free and open to the public
Portraits Around The World is an exhibition of portaiture juried by Michael Byron, Professor of Art, Washington University. The exhibit focuses on cultural diversity and artistic traditions conveyed through portraits representative of the local immigrant populations who have settled in the St. Louis area, thereby enriching the community with their own cultural and artistic traditions.

Selected Works from Peat Wollaeger

St. Louis-based artist Peat Wollaeger (stenSOUL.com) is known for his whimsical, raw, and brightly-colored stenciled characters and videos that include, Mr. Teeth, the Dead Fat Comedians, Albino Alley Cat, and the Luchador Collab-O-Mask series. Peat is one hard-working dood. His work can been seen all over the globe. Whether it's his Luchador room at Hotel Des Arts in San Francisco, his massive wall tribute to Keith Haring at Art Basel in Miami, the more than 700,000 aluminum LE bottles of Mountain Dew at convenience stores all over the States, or his most recent exhibition in Melbourne, Australia...Peat's art is everywhere!
